DARKWEB COLUMN.

Greetings Darkwebbers!

OK, OK, so I didn't stick to my promise of writing this column more frequently, but...

Having moved premise for the second time in six months, we're now back on track. We've added tons of reviews, our top 100 sci-fi is almost done, added plenty more titles and pics to our database, and of course, the latest edition to our Fantasy tournament below.

We will also continue to hunt down those obsure films for videotracker, and for general stock, to make our shop the most complete of it's type on the net! If you'd like us to search for any film title, or even related memorabilia, then please let us know.

I've also been busy of late producing a sister site for darkweb, planet-memorabilia. It's a general memorabilia site, with autographs, programmes, postcards and posters. It covers a wide array of interests, from port to film, music and politics!

Back, to darkweb, and to let you know that there's been a delay with the next e-newsletter, but it is forecoming, and should include a review of The Hulk and indy horror Dark Night of the Soul. I try not to be so negitive this time, the review I did for the indepentent American horror movie 'Relections of Evil', evoked a response from the film's director (Damon Packard) who promised never to bother me again as he was planning a new career as an ambulance driver!

Amongst our latest stock is the Cameron Mitchell sickie 'The Tool Box Murders', a former "Nasty" that has to be seen to be believed, the great Italian Star Wars clone 'Starcrash' starring Caroline Munroe, the bizarre Charles Band chiller 'The Alchemist', 'Superman' 2+3, and a series of Vipco horrors, including 'Savage Intruder', 'Bloodrage', 'Mountain of the Cannibal God', 'Flesh Eating Mothers' and 'Terror Eyes'.

I'd also like to draw attention to our new forum, where you can post any questions, reviews, polls and comments. Click on the 'forum' button in the main banner.

Here's hoping my next column is quicker in the making:

FANTASY HORROR STAR TOURNAMENT

Archived Tournaments: Ultimate Hunchback Fiendish Phantom Invincible Invincible Man Maddest Mad Sculpter Likely Last Man

Price: Champion!
Paul: Challenger!

Each Month, We Will Compare Performances of the Greatest Horror Stars of All Time. This Month, it's evil on a royal scale, as we ask: 'Who was the Most Prosperous Prosero?' It's Vincent Price from 'Masque of the Red Death' (65) Vs. Adrian Paul, star of the 1989 remake:

!
THE RATINGS

There are five rounds. Each Actor is rated from 0% to 20% in each round. The total combined percentages of the five rounds equals the total rating. The star with the highest total rating goes through to next month!

ROUND ONE - Pedigree

Price: A true blueblood of the genre. Price had previously starring in classics like 'House on Haunted Hill' and went on to star in such treats as 'Theatre of Blood' - 20%

Paul: Making his debut here, Paul went on to star in such classics as, err, actually he didn't act again after this fir four years. He recently starred and directored episodes of the 'Highlander' TV series though. - 5%

ROUND TWO - Suitability

Price: An awesome performance, Price's Prospero is the embodiment of evil, sniggering at the peasents who die of the red death, whilst he remains safe and lives a life of debauchery inside his castle. - 19%

Paul: In a performance best discribed as wooden, it's clear to see why Paul disappeared after this - 7%

ROUND THREE - Looking the Part

Price: His always regal demeanor and huge stature means Price is ideal for the role. - 18%

Atwill: Paul better resembles Tarzan the Apeman than a Poe character - 10%

ROUND FOUR - Acting Ability

Price: Great as usual, Price hams it up like he's performing Shakespeare - 18%

Paul: Strictly TV movie standard - 8%

ROUND FIVE - The Film Overall

Price: This was the last, and possibly the best, of the successful Poe-Price-Corman series. It made our Top 100 horror movie list - 19%

Paul: A pretty pathetic remake, it's hard to understand why producer Roger Corman allowed this low quality remake of possibly his best film. Money, perhaps? - 7%

TOTALS - Seems to me like the biggest beating to date!

Price: 94%

Paul: 37%

Even a veteran would have had difficulty beating Price in this form! Next month, he takes on Charlton Heston; who would you have as 'The Last Man on Earth'?!?
